Mike was the Executive Director of the
Hindman Settlement School for 34 years. He died unexpectedly February 19, 2012. This tribute took place on the first evening of the annual week-long Appalachian Writers Workshop which Mike did so much to establish and shape. We heard songs, memories, poems and strong feelings; we shared tears and laughter and appreciation for the guy who, for so long, made the workshop happen.
I limited my photo making to only one or two shots of each participant so as not to be intrusive. I am sharing these now so that those who were not able to be there can see a bit of what we did.
